Overview

SmartaxCalc is a free financial calculator website. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit the site, how it is used, and what your rights are. We have tried to keep it plain and specific — not a wall of legalese.

Short version: all calculations happen locally in your browser. We never see or store the numbers you type in. We do use Google AdSense to show ads, which involves cookies, and we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Both are explained below.

Information We Do Not Collect

Every calculation on SmartaxCalc — your loan amount, salary, GST values, SIP inputs, tax figures — is processed entirely within your web browser. None of this data is sent to our servers. We have no database of user financial information because we deliberately do not collect any.

We do not require you to create an account or provide your name, email address, or any personal details to use the calculators.

Google AdSense & Advertising Cookies

SmartaxCalc is free to use and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads on the site. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads that are relevant to you, based on your browsing history across sites that partner with Google.

These cookies are set by Google, not by SmartaxCalc. We do not control which ads are shown, and we cannot access the data Google collects for advertising purposes. If you would like to opt out of personalised advertising, you can do so through Google's Ad Settings at adssettings.google.com, or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

You can also manage or block cookies entirely through your browser settings, though this may affect how some parts of the site display.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use SmartaxCalc — which calculators are most used, how people arrive at the site, and which pages perform well. This helps us improve the tools and write more useful content.

Google Analytics collects data such as your approximate location (country/city level), browser type, device type, and pages visited. It does not collect the values you enter into the calculators. The data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to track sessions and page views. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Cookies & Local Storage

Beyond the Google cookies described above, SmartaxCalc may use your browser's localStorage to remember the last values you entered in a calculator across sessions, so you do not have to re-enter them. This data is stored only on your device — it is never transmitted to us or any third party.

You can clear this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for smartaxcalc.com.

Your Rights

Because we do not store your personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf. Your calculation data lives only in your browser.

For data held by Google (through AdSense or Analytics), you can manage your preferences through your Google Account settings or by using Google's opt-out tools referenced above.

Third-Party Links

Our blog and calculator pages may link to external websites — government portals, financial news sources, or regulatory bodies. Once you leave SmartaxCalc, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.

Children's Privacy

SmartaxCalc is intended for adult users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our site, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to check back periodically. Continued use of the site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
